"Renewable energy and long-term development plan" approved in principle

On the 7th，Premier Wen Jiabao presided over a State Council executive meeting examined and approved in principle the "renewable energy and long-term development plan".

The meeting pointed out that the guarantee energy security and the protection of the ecological environment and achieve sustainable development is of great significance.

We must take the development of renewable energy as a major strategic move. The overall objective is to improve renewable energy in the proportion of the energy structure, the settlement of the population in remote areas without electricity supply, improve rural production and living conditions, the organic waste of energy use and promote renewable energy technology development of the industrialization.

The meeting called for the development and utilization of renewable sources of energy, global climate change should combine. the principles are as follows:

(1) According to the renewable energy development objectives and requirements, develop and improve the relevant supporting policies

(2) Take effective measures to foster sustainable and stable renewable energy market

(3)To increase financial input and support of renewable energy science and technology research

(4) Scientific planning and rational distribution and orderly development, not harming the environment
